Yoga teacher training in India - week 5

It is already the second last week in Rishikesh . It started to set in that we will not be here forever and I found myself feeling more present in my experience this week. We began to teach each other and had some awesome workshop themes, including Tantra, Thai Yoga massage, Chinese Medicine and foot massage, Creating healthy lifestyles and essential oils, Ayurveda, Prenatal Yoga, Critical thinking to apply yogic knowledge, studying the Sacro Iliac Joint, releasing emotions through hip opening and awakening love with Kundalini Yoga. All my fellow 300 hour yoga teacher trainers have so much to offer and it was nice to be given the opportunity to learn from everyone. In the Tantra workshop, we learned that Tantra is about balancing Shiva and Shakti (masculine and feminine) energy. It is a way to see the spark and eternal flame in your partner not just the being in front of you. There is left hand tantra and right hand tantra. The ultimate goal is right hand tantra which is th...

Yoga Teacher Training in India - Week 4

500-hour yoga teacher training in India We have made it through one month of our yoga teacher training in India . I feel so close with all of my fellow students, we all release a lot this week and the energy feels much lighter now. I personally have shifted a lot since being here and am back in a space of feeling grateful and present for each moment in India. Rishikesh is a holy city and is fully vegetarian. I am a vegetarian and it is nice to know that there is not any meat being prepared anywhere here. It is like a different world, a world that is connected to nature. Living in oneness with nature keeps things real. Sometimes I look around and see the foothills of the Himalayan Mountains and see a monkey and think wow, here I am, in Rishikesh. It is so surreal! If you visit India take advantage of all the amazing ayurvedic products you can buy here for so cheap and definitely get yourself some treatments! I had the most amazing massage yesterday where they pour oil...

Yoga Teacher Training in India - Week 3

After three weeks of intense yoga teacher training things came up for me literally and metaphorically. I feel that I have grown more this week than I thought possible. I got sick and for anyone traveling anywhere in India, I recommend taking a probiotic, oil of oregano and a wellness formula daily. Emotions come up while traveling in India and it truly is a beautiful healing process. If we don’t ever look at any of the old energy we are holding onto we can’t heal it. I will be the first to admit that it does not always feel good to look at your old beliefs and emotions. But the journey to enlightenment is all about shining light on old beliefs that no longer work, as hard as it may feel at times, so I am truly grateful for this experience. Deep healing was the intention that I set for this training; and you know what they say, ask and you shall receive. The weather cooled off and it began to rain this week and I feel that the plants are happy; it is lush and green here. Betw...

Yoga Teacher Training in India - Week 2

Things really heated up this week in Rishikesh . It is hot in May, the heat is helping to keep my muscles loose and aiding in detoxification that’s for sure! We continued our 5:30 am to 8:45 pm schedule this week and I really feel that I am getting into the groove of the day and it flows quite well. This week we began to teach each other in the afternoons. This really gives us the opportunity to learn from each other and receive feedback on how we can improve and become better. We are given the space to discover things on our own, but when the inner guru doesn’t suffice, Krishna or Roshan step in. We have a new evening yoga instructor , Jeet who is teaching us Ashtanga Vinyasa in the evenings, it is a very challenging class but I leave feeling liberated! After three days of Jeet teaching us, we began to break into groups to teach each other sun salutations: Surynamakasar A and B as well as a few other asanas or postures. Repetition of these short sequences creates a context for go...

Yoga teacher training in India at  Rishikesh  - RYS 200, 500 . I arrived in Rishikesh seven days ago to join the 300 hour hatha yoga teacher training in India . I came here with a purpose of self-healing and to deepen my yoga practice and knowledge. I did not expect that I was about to meet so many amazing new friends. I have never been surrounded by so many beautiful souls. The people who work here and all the students here are absolutely lovely.   Being in the yoga capital of the world on the Ganges River at the foothills of the Himalayas is truly magical. I feel right at home here and can sense a genuine, loving and open vibe from everyone I meet. We start the day bright and early with morning tea and sinus cleansing using a neti pot, which can feel awkward the first time but it really cleans out your sinuses so you can breathe! After cleansing our sinuses we go up for morning practice, then breakfast with a lot of fresh fruit followed by theory...
